A Father’s Day Devotional – June 15,2025

Psalm 103:13– As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.

A FATHER’S DAY DEVOTIONAL

Prayer- “Dear Heavenly Father, with deep appreciation we approach you in thanks for the blessing of godly fathers. Fathers bear many unseen burdens while being valuable as mentors, guides, and providing a spiritual example to their families. We Pray that our love and appreciation for them will always be evident through our words, actions, and thoughts. As we draw our attention on the words of this devotional, may we resolve to give honor, love, and respect to all those who hold the position of fatherhood and who lead their homes. In your Son’s name.”

FATHERHOOD: A READING AND REFLECTION –

Proverbs 4:1-5Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching. When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.
  • How does this passage show that the relationship between a father and child is a two-way street?
  • How important is it that a father considers the future life of the child?
  • How does this instruction parallel to Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 6:5, and Matthew 22:37?
  • How do wisdom and understanding help to create a strong future for growing children?

GOOD ADVICE FOR EVERY FATHER
  1. Be a positive role model. 1 Peter 2:21
      • Children are watching and developing based on what they see.
          • What strong concepts do children need to see from their dad?
  2. Spend time with your children. Psalm 127:3
      • Children are blessings to enjoy and are not to be ignored.
          • How can dad share in my life and teach in this demanding world?
  3. Listen to your children. Proverbs 23:24
      • Give focused attention so they trust you with any issues they face.
          • How can dad become more involved and develop a deeper relationship with his children?
  4. Be serious about training. Ephesians 6:4
      • The most important rule in life is to grow to glorify God.
          • What practical things can a father do to take this role seriously?
  5. Remember #1. 1 Peter 2:21
      • Much of what children do is “caught, not taught”. They do what they see.
          • As a role model, what areas of life should a father always consider?

June 2025 Minute to Motivate- Gospel Presentation from Romans

Gospel Presentation from Romans

Our greatest problem is sin.
  • Romans 3:10; 6:23
      • 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
      • 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God’s plan for our salvation is found in Christ.
  • Romans 3:24; 5:1
      • 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
      • 1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus paid the debt of sin for everyone.
  • Romans 3:24-25
      • 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.
By obedience, we receive His gift of salvation.
  • Romans 4:2-8
      • 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”
We cannot create our own plan for salvation.
  • Romans 5:6
      • 6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Our obedient faith leads us to be baptized “into Christ”.
  • Romans 6:3-6
      • 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
Our new life seeks to be faithful and obey God’s will.
  • Romans 6:8-14
      • 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
Are you ready to obey the Lord and express thanks to Him?
  • Romans 1:16
      • 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

A Mother’s Day Devotional 2025

A MOTHER’S DAY DEVOTIONAL- May 11, 2025

Song- God’s Family

Prayer- “Dear Heavenly Father, we approach you in humble thanks for your wisdom in giving us the wonderful blessing of our godly mothers.  We pray that our love and appreciation for them will always be evident through our words, actions and thoughts.  As we fix our attention this evening on the words of this devotional time, may we be strengthened in resolve to give honor, love and respect to all those who hold the position of motherhood.  This is our prayer in your Son’s name.”

THANKING GOD FOR GODLY MOTHERS

Mothers face trials, stresses, fears, hopes, happiness and joy!

You have touched us forever and are a blessing.

THE BIBLE ON RESPECTING MOTHERHOOD

Genesis 28:7-Did Jacob obeyed his father and mother equally.    Yes     No

Exodus 20:2- The Law taught to honor both mother and father.   Yes     No

Proverbs 31:1- From whom did Lemuel receive his wisdom?  ____________

Ephesians 6:2- Paul says to honor both father and mother.            Yes     No

Who defines the role of motherhood, God or society?

How has the world’s view of motherhood changed over the years?

How does the Bible view the position motherhood?

BIBLICAL MOTHERS WHO INFLUENCED THE WORLD.

Hannah (1 Samuel 1:6-7, 18)  What did Hannah do to show her love and trust in God?    How did she act upon her love for Samuel?   Why is sacrifice such a necessary part of a mother’s life today?

Mary (Matthew 1:18-21)  What qualities of Mary exemplify what motherhood should look like today?  What feelings do you imagine she felt during Jesus’ childhood, His ministry and at the cross?

Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5) What is Eunice credited with doing for Timothy’s spiritual development?  How can mothers transmit family values?  What challenges may have faced Eunice in this goal?

ENCOURAGING OUR GODLY MOTHERS

Read Judges 14:2-3. List challenges Samson’s mom may’ve had raising him.

Read Exodus 1:17-20. How does Jochebed stand out as a righteous mother.

What memories of your mother continue to influence you today?

What do mothers need today?  How could you help provide that for them?

A WORD OF GRATITUDE FOR OUR MOTHERS- James W. Farris

One day each year, we set aside a special day to recognize the beauty of mother.  As Christians, we realize the importance of always giving honor to whom honor is due. (Romans 13:7) For this reason, we do not want to only honor our mothers one day per year.  Instead, we always want to remember how tireless you are in offering encouragement to your children.  Your energy seems limitless, yet you receive no vacation, salary or instruction manual and there is no end to your work.  We know you are special and want to give you this special recognition, in honor of your endless dedication.  On this day, we thank God for the blessing of Mother.  If you share with other women in a unique sisterhood called motherhood, we thank you and honor you.

The entire Bible elevates the position of motherhood to a status of greatness. (Genesis 28:7, Proverbs 31, Ephesians 6:2) Though lauded in God’s Word, our world often belittles and degrades the concept of “motherhood.”  Truthfully though, we will not allow society to define what a mother is since the definition should be a biblical one.  God’s Word paints a lovely picture of mothers.  She has great duty and possesses godly beauty which grows more precious with each year.

We know mothers deserve recognition and appreciation for persevering through hardships, seeking the best for their children.  Many great biblical mothers showing their influential power to molding the future.  In I Samuel 1-2 we read about Hannah, a barren woman who desired a child so much she would dedicate him to God from his youth.  Hannah’s example teaches us that loving God is a foundation for loving a family.   Each Gospel tells us about Mary, the mother of Jesus, whose moral and spiritual purity found favor in God’s eyes.  Even when few others would do so, Mary stood by her son, loyally believing in Him.  What a lesson on the power of positive encouragement.   Finally, consider the example of Eunice in 2 Timothy 1:5. She had the power to guide and lead Timothy to the Lord even when Timothy’s own father did not.  Mothers have the power to transmit family values and teach faith.  Mothers, you have power beyond this temporary life and eternal benefits await the Godly mother after this life is over.

When we finally take time out of a hectic lifestyle and pause to think about it, we will see there is never a more beautiful or more glorious person created than mom.  We are thankful to God for our lovely mothers who have willingly dedicated themselves to serve Him all their years.  For our new mothers, we pray for the future of your family.  For you mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers, we applaud your work and thank you for all you continue to do.  May God bless the Central church of Christ and all of those who seek to be godly mothers.

A VIRTUOUS MOTHER- Proverbs 31:25-31

She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
